Day 2 Montefiascone - Viterbo 18, 8 km –
The route unfolds along the Bolsena lake, with beautiful views of the lake which, being of volcanic origins is very deep. Near Viterbo you will pass the Bagnaccio thermal pools where it is fun to soak in milky-green steaming waters. Viterbo is a nice small town and offers insights into real Italian life style as it is away from any tourist circuits.

Day 3 - Viterbo – Fabrica di Roma - 27,6 km
There is an official alternative route to the one in the plain. In the Middle Ages it was meant to avoid unsafe, marshy areas where Malaria was a real risk. The alternative route we have chosen is slightly longer, but passes across a vast unspoiled area with several beautiful abbeys such as the Madonna della quercia sactuary with terra cotta sculptures by Della Robbia.

Day 4 Fabrica di Roma – Nepi 18 km
Again we disregard the official, crowded route in favour of an alternative mountain road. We walk on a ridge, discovering wide views on both sides in a rugged landscape of deep valleys and narrow gorges. Along the road the Falleri Novi abbey and the town powerful walls; also long stretches of original pavement and Etruscan and Roman tombs.

Day 5- Nepi - Campagnano di Roma 29 km
Admire the massive tower of the Rocca dei Borgia and the ancient acqueduct just outside town. Again a day of beautiful, rugged landscapes; rivers have carved deep “forre” which are forested ravines. You cut across the Treja River park with meandering rivers, ponds and waterfalls. Watch towers and medieval fortified hamlet overlook the deeply carved valleys. Peaceful, amazingly beautiful and guaranteed no tourist

Day 6 –Campagnano di Roma/Isola Farnese
The only notable sights of this day are the Madonna del Sorbo Sanctuary and Veio, an Etruscan archaeological site which is, however very poorly kept and run down. La Storta is a suburb of Rome and as such is not particularly interesting actually quite unpleasant. We therefore prefer to spend the night in a small hamlet perched on a cliff 5 km before.

For the arrival in Rome 3 possibilities:
1 - Walk the Via Trionfale (traffic ridden through Rome suburbs)
2 - Take a train to Roma and walk to SanPietro
3 - We offer a transfer to beginning of Via Appia Antica, a magic walk, though historically incorrect.
